Okay, that's the basic setting. Now, the world's governments are in turmoil, so people basically just fend for themselves. Of course, there's got to be an evil genius who'd like to take over the world during its current vulnerability. Now we've got the villain. Nobody has ever seen her face, and nobody knows her name. Everybody just calls her the boss.
This evil genius happens to be a rich evil genius with a huge research complex in Canada. Does anybody else see where this is going? Our rich evil genius friend is attempting to create a perfect human...and once she's done that, she'd like a couple more perfect humans, because an army of 'em would do a whole lot more damage than just one or two. Several subprojects spring up during the attempt at making perfect humans, and the Boss, upon realizing that the subprojects were cooler and less cliched than the perfect human thing, devoted her attention to them.
The subprojects were devoted to recreating Biblical figures, ie the seven archangels, the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, the Beast, the False Prophet, and the Dragon. Experiments with the angels were wildly successful, resulting in a group of powerful and loyal fighters. The experiments with the horsemen failed when the Boss attempted to link humans and mutated horses. The "horses" were smarter and more powerful than their human counterparts, but they were unstable and all four of them suicided. This caused the humans to lapse into varying states of vegetation after causing great amounts of havoc in the research complex. The Boss had their memories erased and replaced with innocuous stories, and they were sent off to foster families in different areas of the globe. The experiments with the False Prophet and the Dragon ended similarly, the one being uncontrollable and the other apparently useless. The Beast was promising and might have become the model for the army the Boss was seeking to create, but he escaped. He escaped, and began to search for the other failed experiments.
And that's the premise, children. A bunch of superhumans are out for revenge against their creator in a post apocalyptic world, and they'd like to cause some havoc while doing so. But what do you expect when they're being lead by someone modeled off of pure evil?
The Characters
The Boss- Her real name is Evelyn Robertson, one of the children lost during WWIII. Her experiences during the war scarred her fragile psyche, and she decided that she wanted to make sure that another war didn't break out. The easiest way to do that, she figured, was to take over the world. Did I mention she was a ruthless genius with a degree in genetic engineering?
Metatron (one who's throne is next to that of the lord)- The leader of the Angels. He specializes in tactics and leadership stuff. He's the most mature of the lot, not including Sariel, and he usually ends up yelling at the other Angels to shut up and listen to him.
Michael (who is like god)- The fighter Angel. If he picks up a weapon, he's automatically an expert in it. One of those nifty genetically engineered abilities. He tends to be immature and he whines a lot because he hasn't got a full eight hours sleep in his life.
Sariel (command of god)- The mysterious one. He doesn't talk, ever, so the other Angels don't really know what he can do. He is the most loyal to the Boss and follows only her orders. He's Raziel's twin, though they aren't identical.
Raziel (secret of god)- The cute one. He looks like a six year old. He acts like one too, come to think of it. Raz is the seer, he sees the future, the present, the past, whatever. Visions suddenly come to him, which he finds slightly annoying, but he'll just tell the nearest of his "friends" and go back to playing. His best friends are Gabriel and Rafaella.
Rafaella (god heals)- The healer. Duh. She's the only girl, and she's Mike's girlfriend. She's a sickly sweet and nice person, to the point where it makes most people want to gag. She can heal most wounds with a touch.
Gabriel (god is my strength)- The messenger. "I am Angel with a skateboard! Fear me!" Gabriel once got into the computer databanks at the Compound and saw a picture of a skateboard. Ever since then he's driven everyone crazy with his makeshift skateboard. Gabriel is the messenger and has telepathic abilities. Gabe appears to be about 16, and so acts like an annoying teenager.
Uriel (fire of god)- Uriel is the only Angel with purely elemental powers. He deals in fire. Things burn if he stares at them long enough. He's cocky and vain, and only a few years older than Gabriel.
Nero- The Beast. The youngest and most powerful of the demons, Nero was also the only one to escape with his memories intact. His subdivision of Project:Apocalypse was similar to the Horsemen in that he would be linked to something else. Rather than using animals, the Boss decided to create weapons for the Demons. More specifically, scythes. When Nero escaped, he found his weapon, which multiplied his abilities a hundredfold. Nero's abilities general deal with blowing stuff up and generally dealing out large amounts of destruction. Nero likes destruction. :)He has a tattoo on his left cheek- three swirly sixes. Nero is infatuated with Kiseki.
Kiseki Ryuuno- The Dragon. Kiseki was sent to a foster family in Japan after numerous tests were run on her. She just didn't do anything, no matter how the scientists poked and prodded. They even made her a scythe to amplify her abilities, but she still didn't do anything. So she got shipped off to Japan until she responded to Nero's message. As it turns out, she can do stuff, but only when Nero is around. Her abilities focus on amplifying his abilities. She has a tattoo of a red dragon on her right cheek.
Lucius- The False Prophet. Nucking Futs. That describes Lucius pretty well. He, like Raziel, is a seer of sorts, but his real talents lie speaking- he can speak any language known to man. This is a useful talent since most of the demons do not speak English, and that's the only language Nero knows. Lucius basically ignored everyone and everything in the Compound during his testing, so the Boss eventually gave up on him and had him shipped to New York. At the time he was only speaking Aramaic. His "parents" locked him in a closet most of his life, as he had a nasty tendency to chew on things; the furniture, the china, ankles, etc...The only person he respects is Kiseki, "respect" meaning he doesn't try to bite her.
Thana Andropolous- Death. She's a barroom dancer in Greece, and a 15 year old brat. Her foster parents hate her, she hates them back, when she hears Nero calling for her, she packs her bags and stows away on the nearest boat for America. She's impetuous like that. Being the fourth horse(person) of the Apocalypse, she has the ability to call upon the dead. Necromancy and such. Thana has a tattoo of a skull on her left cheek.
Therese Demort- Famine. She's a famous French cook, and she's anorexic. Therese also appears to be the oldest of the demons, having a stable income and social standing. She's also the most stable and least likely to go on a destructive rampage. Together with Kiseki she makes up the Voice of Reason. Therese can cause hunger and starvation with a glance. She doesn't, though. She's actually kinda nice, with a balance scale tattoo on her right cheek.
Colin Murphey- Strife. He's an Irish college student. Whenever he gets angry, other things get angry, and glass starts to break. He has absolutely no control over this, and is really something of a pacifist. He tries not to get angry, as his best friend is a goldfish and the glass shattering thing isn't good for Lugh's health. Colin's tattoo is a sword on his right cheek.
Casimir Tomov- War. A Russian farmer boy. He's naive and happy-go-lucky, and can beat anybody at chess. I mean anybody. Cas is also a crack shot with a bow and arrow. His tattoo is a crown on his right cheek.
